Pulling Polymarket whale trades with the Data API
How to get every $10k+ Polymarket trade from the public Data API v2, and the traps to avoid.
The endpoint
GET https://data-api.polymarket.com/v2/trades with filter_type=CASH and filter_amount=10000 returns large trades newest first, each with the wallet (proxy_wallet), market (condition_id), outcome, side, price, size and timestamp. No key needed.
Paging
Responses wrap results in data and page with pagination.next_cursor. There is no offset; pass cursor to get the next page and stop when has_more is false.
Dollars vs shares
Without filter_type=CASH the amount filter counts shares, so a 10,000-share trade at 1¢ would pass as a whale. Multiply size by price for the dollar value.
Merged fills
Large orders often fill as several trades within seconds or minutes. Group by wallet, market, outcome and side over a short window, or one whale looks like five.
Fallback
Data API v1 at /trades still works but is frozen. Our collector tries v2 first and falls back to v1 automatically; you can see which one is serving on the status page.
